EMINEM, GAGA, WEST PREPARE FOR 2010 VMAS

Rap superstar Eminem, pop diva Lady GaGa, and a contrite Kanye West are all poised for a big night at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. Lady GaGa -- the 24-year-old star with a penchant for wild costumes -- is nominated 13 times for her videos. Among the big categories that could bring the "Telephone" singer a moonman are Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Video of the Year. Eminem leads all male artists at this year's ceremony with eight nominations. The rapper's "Not Afraid" video is up for awards in Best Male Video, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, and Video of the Year categories. Eminem also will rock the stage, as he's slated to open the show with a performance.

Hip-hop's Kanye West will also be a major player at this year's ceremony, as he returns to the scene of last year's run-in with Taylor Swift. Kanye -- who is scheduled to perform this weekend -- stole the show at last year's VMAs when he ran on stage to declare that Beyonce, not Taylor Swift, deserved the award for Best Female Video. The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted by Chelsea Handler and broadcast live from Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre on Sunday, September 12th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.

Kevin Federline, who has primary custody of his and Spears' sons, is coming to his ex-wife's defense. DONALD TRUMP OFFERS A DEAL TO OWNERS OF MOSQUE PROPERTY

Donald Trump says he'll spend big in order to quell controversy in the city he calls home. According to TMZ.com, "The Apprentice" boss is offering all of what the owners paid for the parcel, plus an additional 25-percent. Current plans call for the mosque to be built two blocks away from Ground Zero. The 64-year-old billionaire admits that he doesn't think the deal will be lucrative on his end, but he's offering it, quote, "because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse."

WOMAN ACCUSED OF SLASHING LEONARDO DICAPRIO'S FACE PLEADS NOT GUILTY

The woman accused of slashing the face of Hollywood "A-lister" Leonardo DiCaprio is professing her innocence. E! News is reporting that Aretha Wilson appeared in a Los Angeles court Thursday where she pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Wilson is accused of slashing DiCaprio's face with a broken glass during a party in the Hollywood Hills in 2005. According to E!, the 40-year-old allegedly mistook the "Inception" star for an ex-boyfriend, leaving the actor with a gash on his neck and ear that took 12 stitches to close. Before she could be apprehended, Wilson left town for her native Toronto -- where she has also served time for assault. "JERSEY SHORE" STAR REACTS TO JUDGE'S COMMENTS

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi doesn't think her brush with the law puts her in Lindsay Lohan's league. People.com reports that the "Jersey Shore" star is reacting to criticism from New Jersey Judge Damian Murray, who referred to Polizzi in court on Wednesday as a "Lindsay Lohan wannabe," a reference to the troubled Hollywood star. Polizzi tells People.com, quote, "I definitely thought it was harsh. I never drank and drove, I don't do drugs -- I do nothing that Lindsay does, so it was definitely a little overboard." The Lohan comparison wasn't Judge Murray's only put-down. He also characterized Snooki's antics as "rude and self-indulgent" and questioned whether they were scripted for television, adding that if they were, Snooki needed to decide whether it was worth trading in her dignity for a paycheck.

Polizzi was taken into custody in Seaside Heights, New Jersey on July 30th after witnesses reported seeing the TV star in an intoxicated state. Judge Murray dismissed a disorderly conduct charge against the tanned defendant. Murray sentenced Snooki to two days of community service and a 500-dollar fine, plus 33-dollars in court costs.
