MICHIGAN MAN SPELLS OUT PROPOSAL

The owner of a lawn service company in Michigan used his professional skills to propose to his girlfriend. The "Morning Sun" reports that Tommy Dafoe asked for Kristi Volz's hand in marriage by spelling "Will U Marry Me" in their yard. The 24-year-old -- who owns T's Lawn Service -- wrote the message a few weeks ago with fertilizer. He allowed the grass to grow for a while, and then mowed the yard to make the message visible. Before their dinner date last Friday, Dafoe took Volz into the yard and got down on one knee. Volz recalls, quote, "I had no idea. We had talked about it before, but I didn't think it was going to be any time soon." Volz said yes to Dafoe's proposal, and the two are planning to tie the knot next August.

NUDE INTRUDER DRAGGED FROM HOME BY BEARD

A naked intruder made a painful exit from a Kansas City home earlier this week. According to the "Kansas City Star," a 64-year-old woman awoke early Tuesday morning to find her neighbor, Laurence Saunders, standing over her in the nude. Saunders reportedly grabbed the woman by the arm and told her he was just, quote, "being friendly." The woman responded by grabbing Saunders by his beard and dragging him to the door. Saunders fought back, but finally left after getting hit in the head with a tape measure. Police eventually arrested Saunders on charges of burglary, sexual misconduct, and two counts of assault.

THIEF SELLS COINS FOR HUGE LOSS

A stolen gold coin was sold for a huge loss last week. TCPalm.com is reporting that Christopher Williams Saunders walked into the West Bay Trading Company in Vero Beach, Florida last Friday to sell some of his coins. While inside the store, the 27-year-old allegedly knocked over a book of coins, but managed to put a coin worth more than nine-thousand dollars in his pocket before the manager could clean up the mess. Saunders promptly took the 18th Century Spanish treasure to a local antique store and sold it for 167 dollars. The store's owner took the coin back to West Bay Trading Company for resale, at which point both owners discussed their interaction with Saunders. The alleged coin thief has since been charged with grand theft and two counts of dealing in stolen property.
