Precision Farming Workshop

Location: CSI Evergreen Building

The Agriculture Department at the College of Southern Idaho will team with Christiansen Equipment of Twin Falls and Burley to offer a three-day John Deere precision farming workshop March 10 through 12. CSI Ag Professor Jim Wilson said the workshops will be of interest to working farmers in the area who want to learn the benefits of John Deere farm management software and setting up John Deere GreenStar precision farming components in their operations. The workshops will involve both classroom work and hands-on demonstrations with John Deere simulators and actual equipment that will be located on site. Participants will learn the latest guidance applications, field documentation, coverage maps, management practices, data transfer, operation analysis, and better decision-making. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 10, 11, and 12 at CSI’s Evergreen building. The cost is $100 per day. Wilson said although participation is not required the first day, farmers are encouraged to get the basics before moving through the course. Because enrollment in class is limited, participants are encouraged to pre-register early by calling 732-6401.
